San Diego Maids
One of San Diego’s premier maid services got its start in the shower, literally, when one of the founder’s family member's contracted a severe case of sore throat due to the practices of a personal maid. Said maid had been cleaning their shower with bleach because of how clean she said it made the shower look. The problem is when they were taking showers so hot that the room filled with steam, the steam would activate chemicals in the accompanying cleaning solution that lay dormant– specifically ammonia – and the ensuing ammonia/bleach vapor was being inhaled by the occupant of the shower and therefore giving him a sore throat. Believing there were better methods to cleaning a shower, Naked Clean was born.
Naked Clean: People, Pet and Planet Friendly
The difference between Naked Clean and the other San Diego maids is method. After the experience with the sore throat, Naked Clean decided to try a different approach. In 2004, they started business as a Green House Cleaning Maid service, meaning they were going to do the same job as all the other maids in San Diego, except they were going to use better tools, a much more health-conscious approach.
They shy away from cleaning solutions that have the words “poison”, “warning”, “caution” or “danger” on the label, seeing them as pointless chemicals to use when cleaning a house, as people will be inhaling the fumes off those chemicals since they live there. They prefer instead cleaners made from a vegetable, fruit or other plant-based chemical.
Just because a cleaner is approved by the EPA doesn’t necessarily make it green. The EPA, remember, is the same organization that approved cleaners such as bleach for home use. Other services will use EPA approved cleaners and call themselves “green” when this really is not the case.
